Jonglei State and Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) have on Thursday resolved a long-standing boundary dispute.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n In a statement by Jonglei State press unit, leaders from both regions convened in Juba for the Inter-Communal Governance Structures (ICGS) meeting.<\/p>\n According to the statement, Jonglei State governor, Dr. Riek Gai Kok emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing the protracted conflict.<\/p>\n The dispute has contributed to economic hardship, social fragmentation, and persistent insecurity in the border areas.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are fully committed as a state government to finding a peaceful and lasting solution to this dispute,\u201d the governor affirmed.<\/p>\n \u201cWe urge all communities involved to embrace peace, as efforts are underway to reach a sustainable resolution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need the cooperation of all stakeholders to put an end to avoidable violence and disputes,\u201d he said. \u201cSecurity measures and governance structures are being strengthened to restore stability and order.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Peter Guzulu Maze, Chief Administrator of Greater Pibor Administrative Area expressed gratitude to Jonglei state governor for facilitating the dialogue.<\/p>\n Guzulu described the governor as a compassionate leader dedicated to transforming the socio-economic landscape of Jonglei State.<\/p>\n Guzulu reassured citizens of the government\u2019s unwavering commitment to their safety and well-being, regardless of their location.<\/p>\n Traditional chiefs, also described the governor as “a beacon of hope, unity, and peace,” and appealed for proper delineation of boundaries between communities.<\/p>\n According to the chiefs, proper demarcation would provide a lasting solution to crises plaguing the area and avert further destruction of lives and property.<\/p>\n They urged the government to act swiftly, assuring their full cooperation in ensuring the success of road projects that will transform the region and promote lasting peace.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe that opening these roads will not only bring services closer to the people but also strengthen unity among communities,\u201d said one of the chiefs.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are committed to working hand in hand with the government to ensure that every corner of our state is accessible and secure,\u201d The traditional leaders said.<\/p>\n The boundary dispute between Jonglei and Greater Pibor has long affected the lives of many communities.<\/p>\n The successful conclusion of the ICGS meeting is widely seen as a significant milestone in the journey toward lasting peace and development in the region.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Lodu William Odiya Jonglei State and Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) have on Thursday resolved a long-standing boundary dispute.
