{"id":37440,"date":"2025-07-11T02:00:28","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T00:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=37440"},"modified":"2025-07-11T10:29:26","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T08:29:26","slug":"womens-league-reaffirms-support-to-orphans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/11\/womens-league-reaffirms-support-to-orphans\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s League reaffirms support to orphans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Sudan People&#8217;s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Women\u2019s League has reaffirmed support to orphans as well as young people.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s league pledge followed a visit and celebration of the country\u2019s fourteenth Independence Day Anniversary with Orphans at Stone Orphanage Center in Juba, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon&#8217;t feel lonely; we are your mothers.\u201d Abuk Jervas Makuac, National Chairperson of SPLM Women\u2019s League, who led the team to the orphanage, noted in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>According to Abuk, the celebration was not only a commemoration of the hard-won freedom but also a heartfelt gathering aimed at uplifting and empowering the beloved orphans.<\/p>\n<p>She also noted that the visit included various activities, along with the distribution of essential supplies, designed to engage and uplift the children.<\/p>\n<p>Abuk further highlighted that the visit served as a poignant reminder of collective responsibility as a country to ensure every child feels supported and empowered to contribute to the nation\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>She reassured the children by saying \u2018don&#8217;t feel lonely, we are your mothers\u2019, affirming the SPLM Women\u2019s League\u2019s commitment to being a source of support for young people.<\/p>\n<p>In South Sudan, children are in urgent need of protection, many of them have lost parental care due to the long-standing conflict, many of them unaccompanied, separated and others missing.<\/p>\n<p>The legacy of war in South Sudan is particularly reflected in the lives of its most vulnerable victims including women, children, and the elderly.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the UN Children Fund (UNICEF) revealed that about 15,000 children in South Sudan were separated from their families or missing due to conflict.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya \u00a0 Sudan People&#8217;s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Women\u2019s League has reaffirmed support to orphans as well as young people.
