{"id":37443,"date":"2025-07-11T03:00:50","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T01:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=37443"},"modified":"2025-07-10T21:36:04","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T19:36:04","slug":"churches-call-on-political-leaders-to-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/11\/churches-call-on-political-leaders-to-dialogue\/","title":{"rendered":"Churches call on political leaders to dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) has called on political leaders to continuously dialogue for the sake of peace in the country.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at All Saint Cathedral Church in Juba, Chairperson of South Sudan Council of Churches, Rev. Dr. Justin Badi Arama said the Church desires the country to be a nation where justice prevails over oppression.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere liberty and prosperity are shared, rule of law is respected, and unity of purpose guides every step,\u201d the chairperson, who is also the Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS), added.<\/p>\n<p>Primate Rev. Dr. Badi was speaking on Wednesday, at the event to mark the 14th Independence Day of South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrue peace will only come through meaningful and inclusive dialogue that listens to all voices even those that dissent,\u201d Badi said.<\/p>\n<p>He also highlighted that the anniversary should focus towards embracing the spirit of reconciliation, unity and peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn this Independence Anniversary, we come to you with a message of hope and renewal. As we celebrate this day, we remember the collective achievement born from courage, sacrifice, and determination of a united people. This legacy must not be forgotten\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>The primate further added that the anniversary should remind all the political leaders that, the independence was a collective achievement earned through faith, unity, and ultimate sacrifice of many lives.<\/p>\n<p>He implored South Sudan\u2019s leaders to rise above their individual political interest and collectively face the challenges the country is currently encountering, such as collapse of the economy which had made the citizen\u2019s live in desperation, and widespread insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur concern on the political divisions that benefit a few while neglecting millions who suffer across the country, such as those in flood affected areas, internally displaced camps, and those in refuge\u201d Badi underlined.<\/p>\n<p>He applauded all the stakeholders who immeasurably supported this country especially during the twenty-one years of civil war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciate our beloved friends, peace and Humanitarian partners for their immense support, especially during 21 years of liberation struggle and recent violent conflict\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Badi added that despite all challenges, the partners remained focused saving the citizens of this county.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs spiritual leaders, we commend you and appeal that you do not abundant the people of South Sudan. There is still hope that peace will realize with your consistent support\u201d He underscored.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the churches dedicated Seventy- days of prayers and fasting from that had started in June 10, to August 18 this year, to reflect on Seventy years of painful struggle, unwavering unity and long road to freedom.<\/p>\n<p>However, the National Alliance of Political Parties, underscored deepest gratitude to the citizens of this nation for their patience, commitment and unwavering support to the government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour resilient has been a beacon of hope for our beloved nation\u201d National Alliance of Political Parties, noted in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>As one of the signatories to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the conflict in South Sudan(R-ARCSS), National Alliance of Political Parties beseechs other members expedite implementing peace agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Independence Day, we urged all signatories of the R-ARCSS to reflect upon the suffering of our people and to prioritize the implementation of the remaining tasks outlined in the agreement\u201d statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>It further emphasized the essence for the government to provide services, uphold good governance and rule of law, for the citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether we must reject tribalism and work towards building a united nation\u201d statement underscored.<\/p>\n<p>The National Alliance of Political parties reiterated its committed to implementing the R-ARCSS, in both letter and spirit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us choose the path of peace over violence as we strive for a better future for all. Wishing you all a happy and peaceful 14th Independence Day\u201d it underlined.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the United South Sudan Party in Central Equatoria State (USSP), also emphasized its commitment to work in the region towards the upholding of good governance in addition to accountability and transparency when providing services to the communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to take a moment to stand in solidarity with citizens in central Equatoria, especially those caught in conflict.
