Senior presidential Advisor, Kuol Manyang Juuk has called on the government to use the country\u2019s oil revenue to support agriculture as early stated by Late Dr. John Garang De Mabior.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media, Manyang highlighted that during the liberation Late Dr. John was advising colleagues on important of using oil revenue to fuel Agriculture.<\/p>\n

He reiterated the need for the government to followed the path with hope to improve Food production in the country.<\/p>\n

Inline with the ongoing government efforts to increase food production the Presidential advisor urged authorities to double efforts and engage on large scale farming.<\/p>\n

Manyang emphasised the importance of focusing on large-scale food production to reduce dependence on food imports.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Garang wanted to use oil to improve agriculture by buying tractors, building roads, and growing our food. We need to follow this path,\u201d Kiir said.<\/p>\n

South Sudan celebrated Martyrs Day yesterday to honour those who lost their lives in the struggle for independence.<\/p>\n

It is celebrated annually on\u00a0July 30, to mark the anniversary of the death of\u00a0the founding leader Dr. John Garang de Mabior, who struggle for South Sudan’s independence.<\/p>\n

Garang, who led the Sudan People’s Liberation Army during the Second Sudanese Civil War, died in a helicopter crash in 2005, just weeks after becoming the First Vice President of Sudan.<\/p>\n

His death is seen as a pivotal moment in South Sudan’s history, and the day serves to honor his legacy and the sacrifices made by many in the fight for freedom.<\/p>\n

In 2024, the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, pledged to give agriculture top priority in an effort to improve the nation\u2019s food security.<\/p>\n

In his speech on the New Year\u2019s message, President Kiir instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to assist farmers nationwide in order to increase yields.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the year 2025, the government will prioritize agriculture to enhance our food security. I am therefore directing that the Ministry of Agriculture double its efforts to support farmers across the country to improve yields,\u201d President Kiir said<\/p>\n

Kiir directed the Ministry of Roads and Bridges to rehabilitate and construct roads leading to Western Equatoria to enable farmers to access the market.<\/p>\n

The President asked the Ministry of Defense to remove all illegal checkpoints along the roads and rivers to guarantee the security and safety of travelers.<\/p>\n
