Governor of Central Equatoria State, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel has marked South Sudan\u2019s Martyrs\u2019 Day with a solemn tribute to the nation\u2019s founding heroes, urging citizens to recommit to the ideals of sacrifice, unity, and justice.<\/p>\n

During a speech marking the anniversary of Dr. John Garang\u2019s death on July 30th<\/sup>, 2025, he hailed the late SPLM founder as \u201cthe undisputed symbol of liberation,\u201d stressing that the sacrifices of the martyrs must be honored by genuine reconciliation, equitable service delivery, and national unity.<\/p>\n

His remark comes amid renewed calls for political reforms and Peace implementation. Governor also commended President Salva Kiir for his efforts in ensuring lasting peace and voiced his support for inclusive engagement in the peace process in South Sudan. \u201cI appreciate President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his unwavering stewardship towards lasting peace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe State administration will focus on peacebuilding, infrastructure development, and resolution of land disputes particularly in marginalized and war-affected communities,\u201d Mujung added.<\/p>\n

The African Union recently warned that without renewed momentum, the fragile accord could collapse with continuous armed clashes disrupting aid delivery while partners continue to push for the release of key political detainees and broader political inclusion.<\/p>\n

Governor Mujung expressed support for national development initiatives, highlighting the Ministry of Transport\u2019s decade-long plan to revive South Sudan\u2019s deteriorating infrastructure. He also acknowledged ongoing public finance reforms, including the establishment of a tax institute designed to lessen reliance on oil revenues.<\/p>\n

As South Sudan approaches its first post-independence elections scheduled for December 2026, the governor calls for unity and civic responsibility.<\/p>\n

He underscored the need for swift enactment of the National Land Policy to address persistent land conflicts that undermine peace and development.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrue remembrance means action,\u201d Governor Mujung said, urging all South Sudanese to \u201cwalk together in the spirit of selflessness\u201d to realize the vision for which the country\u2019s martyrs gave\u00a0their\u00a0lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
