The Central Equatoria State Government has appealed for calm in Kajokeji amid reports of a Uganda People\u2019s Defense Forces (UPDF) incursion in the Nyainga-muda (Bori boma) and Kangapo II payam earlier this week.<\/p>\n

The government made this appeal during a weekly meeting with State security committee on July 29th<\/sup>, 2025, chaired by State governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Acting State Minister of Information and Communication, Hon. Jacob Aligo Lo-Lado, confirmed that the state is coordinating closely with national authorities to verify the incident and ensure the security of affected communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe State government is assessing the magnitude of the incident and the support required by those affected,\u201d said Aligo.<\/p>\n

The attacked reportedly involved an exchange of gunfire between suspected UPDF troops and a South Sudanese joint security unit and disrupted a scheduled cross-border peace dialogue between local leaders from both countries.<\/p>\n

County authorities have since appealed for urgent government intervention and swift humanitarian assistance following displacement of civilians from affected villages with residents seeking refuge under trees, religious buildings as well as schools amid fears of renewed clashes.<\/p>\n

The commissioner\u2019s office in Kajo-Keji confirmed that the volatile situation has prompted urgent coordination with humanitarian actors to assess needs and provide assistance.<\/p>\n

The security committee reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding peace and stability across the state amid growing security and criminal challenges and pledged to intensify diplomatic engagement with Ugandan counterparts to prevent further escalation and ensure the protection of border communities.<\/p>\n
