{"id":38230,"date":"2025-08-04T10:10:28","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T08:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=38230"},"modified":"2025-08-04T10:10:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T08:10:28","slug":"kajo-keji-officials-visit-displaced-communities-pledge-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/04\/kajo-keji-officials-visit-displaced-communities-pledge-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Kajo-Keji officials visit displaced communities, pledge support"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_38231\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38231\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38231\" src=\"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Kajokeji-county-officials-visited-the-IDPs-and-urged-for-calm-while-pledging-support-KKCPU-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Kajokeji-county-officials-visited-the-IDPs-and-urged-for-calm-while-pledging-support-KKCPU-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Kajokeji-county-officials-visited-the-IDPs-and-urged-for-calm-while-pledging-support-KKCPU.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38231\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kajokeji county officials visited the IDPs and urged for calm while pledging support KKCPU<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>By Alan Clement<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A delegation of government officials led by the Commissioner and Chair of Kajo-keji County\u2019s Security Committee, Wani Jackson Mule, has visited areas affected by the recent wave of displacement.<\/p>\n<p>The visit was intended to assess the humanitarian situation and reaffirm the government\u2019s commitment to the welfare and protection of its citizens following armed confrontations on July 28 between a joint South Sudan People\u2019s Defence Forces (SSPDF) detachment and forces of the Uganda People\u2019s Defence Forces (UPDF) in Nyainga-Muda village triggering the displacement of over 1000 households.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Mule urged calm and unity among the displaced, emphasizing the government\u2019s commitment to peaceful resolution and humanitarian support. \u201cWe encourage our people to remain calm, avoid retaliation, and share available resources,\u201d said commissioner adding that, \u201cThe local, state, and national governments are working tirelessly to address this situation through diplomatic channels and to mobilize relief support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IDPs are currently sheltered at 6 locations including, Logo and Sokare in Liwolo Payam (Episcopal Diocese of Liwolo), and Mereguga, Bori Primary\/Secondary School, Wota-kujong, and Sunyu in Bori Boma of Kangapo II Payam.<\/p>\n<p>Officially regrettably confirmed that three (3) children were separated from their parents and are currently unaccompanied with two (2) now being cared for by the Episcopal Diocese in Romogi and another one being cared for by a neighbor in Sunyu.<\/p>\n<p>Brigadier General Henry Buri, SSPDF Area Commander in Kajokeji, acknowledged the trauma caused by the incident and called for patience. \u201cThe impact on the community is shocking, but both governments are engaging diplomatically to resolve the dispute peacefully,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The County Police Inspector, Colonel Nathaniel Mawa, confirmed that security has since stabilized in the area following de-escalation agreements reached between the security leaderships of South Sudan and Uganda on July 29. He assured that, \u201cCalm has been restored, and both countries are cooperating to prevent further tensions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of community elders, Muki Batali expressed dismay over the timing of the confrontation, revealing that he was on his way to attend a cross-border peace dialogue at the invitation of the Yumbe District leadership in Uganda. \u201cIt\u2019s disappointing that this incident happened just as we were preparing for a peaceful engagement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>County Security Coordinator, Mr. Godfrey Data Rembe, also reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to a diplomatic solution emphasizing that the county officials have not forgotten their responsibility to the people they serve.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Mr. Mogga Charles, Secretary of the County Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, described the humanitarian situation as critical. \u201cInitial assessments are complete, but the number of displaced persons may continue to rise. Urgent intervention is needed,\u201d he warned<\/p>\n<p>The county leadership called on the public to remain calm and trust the ongoing security and diplomatic efforts.
