The governor of Northern Bahr El Gazal State (NBGs), Simon Ober Mawut, has urged the newly appointed officials to focus on serving the interest of the citizens rather than their individual or political interests.<\/p>\n

The governor appealed to the appointed state officials to deliver services to the entire population in the state, as it is their mandate.<\/p>\n

He warns the officials from working for the interest of the parties or the interest of the state governor as well as other appointing authorities.<\/p>\n

The governor made the remarks on Wednesday at the state\u2019s secretariat, where the mammoth crowd turned up to witness the swearing-in ceremony of some government officials.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to make it clear that you\u2019re chosen by God, as political appointments are highly contested by many politicians, and work for the interest of the people of Aweil and not for me. There are those who say they are uncheckable and untouchable\u2014nothing of the kind,\u201d Ober said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are enormous challenges, as I know some of you are going to have offices that are new without proper installations of furniture and a lot of things, but as I am working hand in hand with the judiciary, the legislature, and the partners, we will help you,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ober also told the newly appointed officials to always encourage and remain accountable during the time of serving the people.<\/p>\n

The new appointees include the minister of finance, advisor for security, minister for peace building, speaker, and commissioner of Aweil East County, among others.<\/p>\n

At a ceremony organized by Aweil East officials to welcome the new commissioner, the commissioner Garang Thiang Deng told his supporters to witness the swearing-in ceremony and to take heart, as he would take over from his predecessor, Diing Aher.<\/p>\n

Garang said he will work to see where there are loopholes to take over.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to promise anything now, as I will first check on the ground what is going amiss, and I shall take over as my predecessor Diing Aher will hand over to me, so bear with me,\u201d he urged.<\/p>\n
