The National Democratic Movement (NDM) has yesterday reaffirmed commitment to the Revitalized Agreement on Resolution of conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

The statement comes after ninth session of the party National Leadership Council held on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to a statement extended to this outlet, the NDM chairman Lam Akol Ajawin, expressed that the session comes at a turning point in the implementation of the peace agreement.<\/p>\n

It also elaborated that the agreement was extended four times and that during that period the party had faced a lot of challenges but emerged from the difficulties and united.<\/p>\n

It further emphasized that R-ARCSS remains the only blueprint for peace in the country and the Parties to the agreement must persist on dialogue as the only way to keep the agreement alive.<\/p>\n

The statement also noted that Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster who doubles as Chairperson of South Sudan Opposition Alliance, H.E. Josephine Joseph Lagu, emphasized the need for servant leadership, commitment to work and taking politics as a means to serve rather than job creation.<\/p>\n

The statement noted after receiving a comprehensive report from the Chairman on organizational matters in the party, the NLC reiterated the NDM\u2019s commitment to the R-ARCSS in letter and spirit , directed the National Executive Committee to continue pursuing the implementation of the agreement in full.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NLC further delegated the NEC to continue engaging the Parties to the agreement to overcome the challenges facing the implementation process\u201d statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NLC expressed its concern on the rampant communal violence all over the country and appealed to the Government to stamp that out\u201d statement noted.<\/p>\n

The statement highlighted that the Council also resolved to convene the National Delegates\u2019 Congress in June 2026 and directed the National Executive Committee to set the exact time at a later date.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn democratic transformation the Council reaffirmed that a credible, free, fair and peaceful election at the end of the Transitional Period is the only pathway to ushering the country into a democratic era\u201d statement partly read.<\/p>\n

They called upon all the political parties to embrace democratic means as the sole tool for exchange of power, and also called upon the Government to create the conducive space necessary for democratic transformation.<\/p>\n

The statement also underscored the council with concern the deteriorating state of the economy and called upon the parties concerned to take immediate steps to arrest the decline in the value of the pound and control the rising inflation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is also necessary to create safety nets for the most vulnerable among our suffering people\u201d statement read.<\/p>\n

The statement emphasized that there are many challenges facing the implementation of the Peace Agreement but stating NDM is determined that R-ARCSS must be implemented in letter and spirit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NDM must sharpen its organizational tools to build a strong party capable of championing critical and genuine reforms in our country, advocating for change entails hardships and members must be prepared to face all kinds of challenges in pursuing that noble objective\u201d statement emphasized.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
