The governor of Jonglei State Dr. Riek Gai Kok met with United Nations office for coordination of humanitarian affairs OCHA and other Partners to expedite help to the vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n

The stakeholders conveyed on Wednesday in Juba to discuss areas of partnership to boost relief assistance to vulnerable communities across the State.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by UNOCHA, Finn Church Aid and other NGOs in the Country.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the extra-ordinary meeting with the Partners, Governor Dr. Riek appealed to the Humanitarian Organisations to increase humanitarian access and food delivery for the vulnerable people in Jonglei State.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019 Jonglei State has been facing many catastrophes such as flooding and this has posed a looming hunger to the people, we need the partners to help our people in the hard-to-reach areas with relief assistance.\u2019\u2019 Kok said.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Kok emphasized the need for equitable distribution of Aid food assistance in the most of hard- to reach vulnerable communities in the State.<\/p>\n

Governor Kok reiterated his administration\u2019s commitment to facilitating humanitarian access and removing logistical barriers especially to hard-to-reach areas, particularly communities affected by flooding and displacement.<\/p>\n

While speaking to during the Meeting, David Carden the head of UNOCHA in South Sudan emphasized the importance of collaboration between the humanitarian actors and the state government.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019 We will make our position to be clear, food must reach the people who need it the most, I appeal to our partners to ensure that the aid distribution is equitable and inclusive.\u2019\u2019 He said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Carden appealed to the Humanitarian Partners across the State to ensure relief assistance in the most flood affected communities in the state.<\/p>\n

–\u2018\u2019Our partners are essential to this mission; with the support of the government, we can strengthen our collaboration and ensure continued delivery of food.\u2019\u2019 Carden said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He also commended the administration of the governor for prioritizing humanitarian needs given the numerous challenges the state faces which require urgent interventions.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the recent years, Pangak, twic East and Duk counties are among the most flood affected counties across Jonglei state. Residents in those affected counties are experiencing subsequent poverty.<\/p>\n
