{"id":38769,"date":"2025-08-18T11:12:51","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T09:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=38769"},"modified":"2025-08-18T10:21:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T08:21:28","slug":"cholera-kills-six-people-in-warrap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/18\/cholera-kills-six-people-in-warrap\/","title":{"rendered":"Cholera kills six people in Warrap"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_38770\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38770\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38770\" src=\"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Choleara-300x146.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Choleara-300x146.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Choleara.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38770\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo showing some of the patients suffering from cholera disease in Aweil (photo: courtesy)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>By Hou Akot Hou<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Health officials in Warrap state have called on the local residents to exercise caution and care to hygiene as cases of cholera deaths are on the rise again.<\/p>\n<p>The Surveillance Officer, John Akol Akol said since July they have recorded seventy-three cases both in Kuajok Town and Akon payam of Gogrial West County alone.<\/p>\n<p>Akol emphasized that the cases surged as a result of poor hygiene and this gave them and impulse or determination to do more awareness raising which they conducted in Akon town last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn July we recorded 73 cases in Kuajok town and Akon payam and 14 patients are still being admitted awaiting monitoring and 6 died before they reached the health facilities and the rest got discharged,\u201d said Akol<\/p>\n<p>He underscored the need to be vigilant about cases of cholera as they are still on the rise, and they forced them to conduct awareness in Akon payam last week with the general public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went to Akon payam and aware people on how to prevent , protect themselves from\u00a0 cholera and it was successful as partners and government officials from the state joined us in that awareness campaign\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He advised people sent patients to the nearest health facilities once person is dehydrating or having symptoms of getting cholera such as serious vomiting which are all associated with the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, health officer Samuel Atem Amet stated that since the onset of the rainy season, the Ministry of health in Northern Bahr El Gazal state has recorded 67 cases of snake\u2019s bite which are life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that they had received anti-venom donated by World Health Organization (WHO) to Aweil South County hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Atem urged people to rush to the health centers for anti-vendom vaccine in order save lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to use this opportunity to inform our people that we have received anti-venoms in Aweil South County and this equally applies to other counties though Aweil south is prone to snake bite as it is a low-lying area in most parts of it\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Hou Akot Hou Health officials in Warrap state have called on the local residents to exercise caution and care to hygiene as cases of cholera deaths are on the rise again.
