In a significant move to bolster journalism in South Sudan, the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) has partnered with the Indian Embassy.<\/p>\n

The collaboration was announced following a recent meeting at the Indian Embassy in Juba between UJOSS Secretary General Majak Daniel Kuany Alier and the Ambassador of the Republic of India to South Sudan, H.E. Anil Nautiyal.<\/p>\n

The meeting provided a crucial platform to discuss strengthening media cooperation, with a central focus on UJOSS’s upcoming Journalism Excellence Awards.<\/p>\n

Both parties explored key areas of mutual interest, including professional training opportunities for journalists, knowledge-sharing programs, and broader media development support. The ultimate goal is to elevate journalistic standards and reinforce press freedom across the country.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Nautiyal affirmed India\u2019s commitment, stating, “India is dedicated to supporting the development of a professional, ethical, and independent media sector in South Sudan.”<\/p>\n

UJOSS Secretary General Majak expressed his gratitude for the Embassy’s willingness to collaborate. “We appreciate the Ambassador\u2019s receptiveness and the Embassy\u2019s interest in supporting the growth of a responsible media,” he said. “Strengthened partnerships like this are vital to our mission of promoting quality journalism and freedom of expression.”<\/p>\n

The meeting, which also included Deng John, UJOSS Warrap State Secretary, concluded with a shared commitment to continued engagement, signaling a promising new chapter for media development in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

UJOSS was established to elevate journalism standards and promote ethical reporting in South Sudan. The organization’s efforts, including the annual Journalism Excellence Awards, faced challenges like limited resources and a need for professional training.<\/p>\n

To overcome these hurdles, UJOSS sought international partnerships, leading to the meeting with the Indian Embassy, which has a history of supporting media development. This collaboration marks a significant step in UJOSS\u2019s strategy to build a stronger and more independent media sector with international support.<\/p>\n
