The Governor of Jonglei State, Riek Gai Kok has yesterday raised concern over the devastating impact of flood in the state.<\/p>\n

In s a statement issued by the state governor\u2019s press unit, Gai made the remark during a high-level delegation visit to the SPLM National Secretariat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe raised urgent concerns regarding the devastating impact of floods and appealed for national government intervention,\u201d Governor Riek stated.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the SPLM Chairperson for Jonglei State provided a comprehensive briefing on the current situation across the state, highlighting both pressing challenges and notable progress following recent county-level outreach missions.<\/p>\n

It noted Governor Riek informed the Secretary General about the humanitarian crisis in flood-affected areas including Fangak, Pigi, and Twic East, where thousands of residents have been displaced.<\/p>\n

The statement further underscored governor Gai outlined the State Government\u2019s strategic relocation plans aimed at safeguarding vulnerable communities and restoring stability.<\/p>\n

It also underscored Gai stressed the significance of recent peace-building efforts, particularly the landmark agreement between Jonglei and Greater Pibor communities.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he emphasized that the accord has opened pathways for agricultural revitalization and reinforced the national agenda of fostering self-reliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also shared our long-term development roadmap to ensure sustainable recovery and growth\u201d statement partly read.<\/p>\n

The statement noted in response, Prof. Jumi reaffirmed SPLM\u2019s commitment to supporting Jonglei State through its established party structures and pledged continued collaboration to advance the welfare of its citizens.<\/p>\n

Flash floods\u00a0have devastated parts of Jonglei State, South Sudan, leaving hundreds of families without shelter and access to clean water due to heavy rainfall in the state.<\/p>\n
