{"id":39788,"date":"2025-09-17T10:31:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T08:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=39788"},"modified":"2025-09-17T10:31:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T08:31:07","slug":"disadvantaged-children-plea-for-help-as-the-situation-worsens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/17\/disadvantaged-children-plea-for-help-as-the-situation-worsens\/","title":{"rendered":"Disadvantaged children plea for help as the situation worsens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Jacob Onuha Nelson<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Some of the disadvantaged children in Juba City have called for help from the government and the partners as the situation worsens.<\/p>\n<p>The kids face challenges like lack of shelter, food, and medication, among others.<\/p>\n<p>While they continue to sleep on city streets, little has been done to ensure that they are transformed.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive interview with this outlet on Tuesday at Konyokonyo market, James Ubah Lino, one of the children on streets, sadly expressed they sometimes sleep without food.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed that after the father\u2019s death, he joined the street, where he hustles to survive; no one was taking care of him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are hustling and collecting bottles; there is no money. \u201cMy dad died a long time ago; I stayed with my aunt at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Don Bosco,\u201d Ubah said.<\/p>\n<p>Ubah narrated that her aunt felt unwell to provide for the family at the moment for some days hence, forcing him to join the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t die at home with hunger; instead, I should go on the street to pick food or something like that to eat at home,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am an orphan; my aunt is too sick to feed us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Morris Ladu Vincent, a 7-year-old kid, stated that he had no access to education as well as support for his life in this economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t go to school, my dad doesn\u2019t work, and my mom died a long time ago in the village,\u201d Ladu stated.<\/p>\n<p>Ladu emphasized that despite his stepmother&#8217;s mistreatment at home, he decided to run away from home because of missing meals at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dad doesn\u2019t work, and my mom died a long time ago while I was 6 months old.\u201d Ladu said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dad has many wives, and the other stepmother whom I stay with beats me at home every day.\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I ran away from home, and I usually don\u2019t get food sometimes at home,\u201d Ladu added.<\/p>\n<p>Ladu urged the government to look at their situation and do something to provide food, medication, shelter, and education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe admire our agemates with school uniforms when they go to schools; we need to go to school like them,\u201d Ladu wept.<\/p>\n<p>However, most of the homeless children had been facing the long-term conflict, displacement, family disruption, and economic hardships in the country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jacob Onuha Nelson Some of the disadvantaged children in Juba City have called for help from the government and the partners as the situation worsens.
