{"id":40048,"date":"2025-09-27T12:42:58","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T10:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=40048"},"modified":"2025-09-27T12:42:58","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T10:42:58","slug":"chamber-of-commerce-vows-to-support-digital-banking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/27\/chamber-of-commerce-vows-to-support-digital-banking\/","title":{"rendered":"Chamber of commerce vows to support digital banking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Deng Athian<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The chairman of National Chamber of commerce Mr. Ladu Lukak encouraged the business people to adopt digital banking as secure means of transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Lukak was speaking in a meeting convened at the Bank of South Sudan between the Governor Dr. Addis Ababa, Deputy Governor of the Bank, Chief Executive Officer of Bankers Association among other participants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am encouraging the businesspeople to accept the use of online transaction (MoMo, Digi-cash, Mgurus) as a secure means of payment,\u201d Lukak emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Dr. Addis Ababa, the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan described the digital banking as importance towards financial inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBenefits of digital payment are many, but what is importance is the benefits of having bank account,\u201d Governor Addis Ababa said.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Executive Officer of Bankers Association Madam Betty Angasi expressed readiness to support the public awareness on the use and importance of digital payment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs commercial banks, we are encouraging the collaboration with other finance stakeholders to join hands to raise awareness on the importance of digitalisation. We need to encourage every shop to adopt the digital payment to ease transactions in the market,\u201d Betty said.<\/p>\n<p>Digital banking encompasses a wide range of financial services delivered through the digital channels such as mobile application.<\/p>\n<p>However, the scarcity of\u00a0liquidity\u00a0at the Bank of\u00a0South Sudan\u00a0and across commercial banks stems from a combination of weak productivity, informal revenue management, and public distrust in formal financial institutions has increasingly formed fear of using digital system by the people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Deng Athian The chairman of National Chamber of commerce Mr. Ladu Lukak encouraged the business people to adopt digital banking as secure means of transactions.
