{"id":40317,"date":"2025-10-10T12:15:23","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T10:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=40317"},"modified":"2025-10-10T12:51:26","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T10:51:26","slug":"sspdf-cdf-to-improve-welfare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/10\/sspdf-cdf-to-improve-welfare\/","title":{"rendered":"SSPDF: CDF to improve welfare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Lodu William Odiya<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Salva Kiir has directed the Chief of Defense Forces, Dr. Paul Nang Majok, to improve the welfare of soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>The head of state and the commander in chief of the South Sudan People&#8217;s Defense Forces (SSPDF) made the directive on Thursday during the swearing in ceremony of the new officials.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement obtained from the Presidential Press Unit (PPU), Kiir\u2019s Directive is aimed at upholding professionalism in the military.<\/p>\n<p>The statement issued by the presidential press unit, Kiir made the remark during Nang\u2019s swearing-in on Thursday in Juba.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday, President Kiir urged Dr. Paul Nang to prioritize the welfare and well-being of all organized forces,\u201d the statement from the presidential press unit partly read.<\/p>\n<p>The Commander in Chief also directed the appointed CDF to initiate a program to ensure reforms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief, and Supreme Commander of all Organized Forces has directed the newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Dr. Paul Nang Majok, to uphold professionalism,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also stated that the head of state also issued a stern warning against any military interference in the country\u2019s political affairs, including those pertaining to the state and other matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Kiir urges Dr. Paul Nang to prioritize the welfare and well-being of all organized forces,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n<p>It underscored the president&#8217;s emphasis on the importance of embodying integrity, neutrality, and a commitment to reforms, pledging unwavering support for initiatives aimed at modernizing the defense force.<\/p>\n<p>President Salva Kiir on Wednesday relieved the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of the South Sudan People\u2019s Defense Forces (SSPDF), Gen. Dau Aturjok Nyuol.<\/p>\n<p>Kiir appointed Gen. Paul Nang Majok as Chief of Defense Forces.<\/p>\n<p>In his first appointment in December 2024, Gen. Paul Nang Majok was tasked with transforming the military into a professional force capable of defending the country\u2019s territorial integrity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Welfare of the soldiers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recently, the Transitional National Legislative Assembly summoned Defense and Veterans\u2019 Affairs Minister Gen.
