{"id":40465,"date":"2025-10-15T11:36:03","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T09:36:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=40465"},"modified":"2025-10-15T11:36:03","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T09:36:03","slug":"south-sudan-commemorates-world-standard-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/15\/south-sudan-commemorates-world-standard-day\/","title":{"rendered":"South Sudan commemorates world standard day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>By Lodu William Odiya<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Sudan has joined the rest of the countries in commemorating the world standard day.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the event, yesterday during the workshop, Gloria Nyoka Joseph, the Executive Director of the South Sudan Bureau Standards (SSNBS) said the country takes the day for consulting experts who set the standards about some of the policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we put it also to be consulting our experts who set the standards about some of the policies like the food safety policy that will need to be presented later to the higher level so that we have the national food safety policy that will address issues concerning food safety, quality and implementation of the standard\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>She underscored the theme for the day \u201ca shared vision for a better world\u201d was in line with the SDG17, which called for participation for the goals.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nyoka the day is celebrated to recognize and to honor all the experts and the minds behind setting and developing standards all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Standard Day to South Sudan means an important day for us because it asks us to adhere to the standards of what we are consuming, being food or non-food items or products\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, being one of the countries that is also a member to EAC&#8217;s standard secretariat and to ARSO, which is African Regional Standard Board and to ISO, the international\u201d Nyoka added.<\/p>\n<p>Nyoka underlined the commemoration gives the country a strong participation that South Sudan is also part of the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also have a part to disseminate the standards nationally, regionally and globally. and we have to work together in line with the world to make sure that the standard is implemented\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Peter Abui the Food and Agriculture Organization South Sudan\u2019 representative reaffirmed his team\u2019s commitment to working together in development of standard in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know very well that are new nation, we have just emerged but we have worked together with SSNBS and other stakeholders to have standard development in the country\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>World Standards Day\u00a0(or\u00a0International Standards Day) is an\u00a0international day\u00a0celebrated on 14 October each year.<\/p>\n<p>The day honours standards development organizations and aims to\u00a0raise awareness\u00a0among regulators, industry and consumers of the importance of\u00a0standardization\u00a0to the\u00a0global economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0By Lodu William Odiya South Sudan has joined the rest of the countries in commemorating the world standard day.
