{"id":40674,"date":"2025-10-23T13:50:45","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T11:50:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=40674"},"modified":"2025-10-23T14:39:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T12:39:53","slug":"splm-rejects-nhials-criticism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/23\/splm-rejects-nhials-criticism\/","title":{"rendered":"SPLM: Rejects Nhial\u2019s criticism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>By Lodu William Odiya<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM) has distanced itself from failure, as claimed by Nhial Deng Nhial.<\/p>\n<p>Deng freezes his membership from SPLM and subsequently forms his own party, the South Sudan Salvation Movement (SSSM).<\/p>\n<p>During defection, Nhial issued an 18-page statement blaming the SPLM for failing the country.<\/p>\n<p>He also claimed that the party has lost its vision, something later refuted by the SPLM officials.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Nhial\u2019s claims, Bol Makueng Yuol, Secretary for Political Affairs, Mobilization, and Organization for the SPLM, rubbishes the alleged failures.<\/p>\n<p>Makueng refuted the corruption in the procurement of the 500 tractors as claimed by Nhail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe failure to effectively implement this project at the state level is not attributed to the SPLM chairman but to the beneficiaries\u2019 inability to manage the initiative,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the SPLM party, Nhial served in several ministries, including the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs, where he could not resolve some of the challenges.<\/p>\n<p>On allegations that the SPLM and SPLM-IO are deliberately delaying the implementation of the peace agreement and fears of election, the SPLM underscored they were ready for the electoral competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither the SPLM Chairman nor the leadership fears electoral competition. The SPLM has prepared thoroughly for the 2024 elections, as witnessed by regional endorsements and the SPLM Renaissance Mission,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Makueng defied Nhial\u2019s declaration that the party lost its original vision following the death of Dr. John Garang, highlighting continued commitment under current SPLM leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing Dr. Garang\u2019s sad passing in July 2005, Comrade Salva Kiir steadfastly carried forward the vision and mission of the liberation struggle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that President Salva Kiir\u2019s unwavering commitment to the vision was instrumental in achieving South Sudan\u2019s independence despite ongoing provocations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the SPLM addressed claims regarding veterans\u2019 neglect, calling out Nhial\u2019s previous inaction while in office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he and his colleagues held power, they never advocated vacating their positions to allow veterans a chance to serve as ministers or in leadership roles,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, what concrete strategies did Hon. Nhial design and implement to improve veterans\u2019 welfare?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis current mobilization of veterans on grounds of neglect is disingenuous,\u201d Makueng underlined.<\/p>\n<p>The SPLM party called on the fellow members and citizens to commit to peace and unity among themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SPLM remains committed to unity, peace, and development in South Sudan.
