{"id":41120,"date":"2025-11-13T10:13:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T08:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=41120"},"modified":"2025-11-13T10:13:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T08:13:11","slug":"cabinet-to-resume-after-months-of-inactivity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/13\/cabinet-to-resume-after-months-of-inactivity\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabinet to resume after months of inactivity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Alan Clement<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Sudan\u2019s Cabinet is set to resume sessions later this week, ending months of inactivity that have stalled key government decisions and policy implementation.<\/p>\n<p>According to a circular from the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the resumption follows directives issued by Cabinet Affairs Minister Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In the circular, Dr. Lomuro instructed ministers to attend a mandatory induction training session on Wednesday, November 12, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs main hall. \u201cThe purpose of this induction is to reactivate and refresh understanding of governance procedures,\u201d the ministry\u2019s statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry explained that the session is intended not only to refresh ministers on governance procedures but also to enhance coordination within the executive. \u201cIt will also strengthen Cabinet decision\u2011making processes ahead of the upcoming government activities,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet last convened in March 2025, marking an unusually long hiatus in formal government business. The pause delayed approval of national policies and budgets, disrupted coordination among ministries, and created uncertainty around decision\u2011making.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis resumption marks a critical step to restore effective governance and ensure timely decisions for the benefit of our people,\u201d Dr. Lomuro said.<\/p>\n<p>During a parliamentary sitting last week, lawmaker Atem Garang of Jonglei State questioned how the country was being managed in the absence of Cabinet meetings, warning that prolonged inactivity undermined accountability and effective governance.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Cabinet Affairs described the move as part of ongoing efforts to ensure \u201ceffective governance and improved decision\u2011making\u201d as South Sudan prepares for key political and administrative milestones in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan, 2011 (as amended), the Cabinet commonly known as the Council of Ministers is the executive authority responsible for implementing national policies, laws, and decisions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Alan Clement South Sudan\u2019s Cabinet is set to resume sessions later this week, ending months of inactivity that have stalled key government decisions and policy implementation.
