{"id":41514,"date":"2025-11-27T14:47:33","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T12:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=41514"},"modified":"2025-11-27T14:47:33","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T12:47:33","slug":"dr-akol-meets-president-vows-to-rejuvenates-splm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/27\/dr-akol-meets-president-vows-to-rejuvenates-splm\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Akol meets President, vows to Rejuvenates SPLM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Lodu William Odiya<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Secretary General (SG) of the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Dr. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit vowed to rejuvenate the party.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Akol made the remark on Wednesday after meeting President Salva Kiir who is also the chairperson of the SPLM party<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement from presidential press unit, the two SPLM top officials discussed ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the party as it charts out the future of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary General Dr. Akol Paul Kordit stated that the discussion underlined the party\u2019s crucial role in helping the country attain a sustainable peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe talks did not only center on the party&#8217;s internal reform agenda, but it also focused on the current peace process, underlining SPLM&#8217;s crucial role in helping South Sudan attain a sustainable peace\u201d the statement partly read.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eThe Secretary General pledged to lead the programs aimed at reviving, reorganising, and strengthening the liberation party to effectively implement its vision and mission for the good of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Recently South Sudan\u2019s President and SPLM Chairman Salva Kiir Mayardit urged James Wani Igga and other top party officials to continue with mobilization as elections approach.<\/p>\n<p>The president made the remarks during the swearing-in of Dr. James Wani Igga, the first Deputy Chairman of the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM), and his comrade, Akol Paul Kordit, the party\u2019s secretary general.<\/p>\n<p>Both Wani and Paul have been prominent SPLM leaders, as they have served several political positions in the government as well as in the party.<\/p>\n<p>The Tuesday event conducted at the SPLM house attracted a massive turnout from several SPLM members from different institutions with hope to witness the swearing in.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement from the presidential press unit, the head of state, who is also the SPLM chairperson, tasked the leaders to focus on unity and mobilization ahead of the 2026 elections.<\/p>\n<p>Kiir reiterated that party leaders remain responsible for bringing SPLM members together.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the leaders to double mobilization efforts in order to secure another vote during the upcoming elections. \u200e<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Kiir urged the SPLM leadership to secure another popular mandate from the people of South Sudan as it did in the 2010 general elections, urging them to revitalize the party and strengthen its grassroots connections through the equitable provision of basic services\u201d the statement partly read.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya The Secretary General (SG) of the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Dr. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit vowed to rejuvenate the party.
