{"id":41654,"date":"2025-12-22T11:00:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T09:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=41654"},"modified":"2025-12-22T11:00:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T09:00:08","slug":"tribalism-kiir-cautions-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/22\/tribalism-kiir-cautions-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"TRIBALISM: Kiir cautions Leaders\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Yiep Joseph<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on the leaders to serve the county with sincerity and honesty.<\/p>\n<p>Kiir made the call during the national prayer breakfast held at the presidential palace in Juba.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together all the government officials in the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the faith-based leaders, youth, civil society, women, and others were also included.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the gathering, President Salva Kiir called on those in power to serve the people with honesty, humility, and accountability.<\/p>\n<p>He added that for leaders to genuinely serve the citizens, there is a need to reject all forms of divisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am urging those in positions of authority to serve with honesty, humility, and accountability as they work for the nation. We can do this by rejecting division and tribalism and embracing dialogue, forgiveness, and reconciliation,\u201d Kiir said.<\/p>\n<p>Kiir urged the leaders and the citizens at large to commit themselves to peace.<\/p>\n<p>He called on South Sudanese to unite and reject any attempts to divide the country along tribal lines.<\/p>\n<p>Held under the theme \u201cBlessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for His inheritance.\u201d Kiir expressed that the initiative is aimed at fostering unity among the people.<\/p>\n<p>The President called citizens to preach peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with this hope for a better country that I am calling upon South Sudanese from all religious backgrounds to be champions of peace,\u201d he appealed.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the politicians to revisit the country\u2019s policy and work hard to address challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us be guided by integrity in all we do and seek God\u2019s guidance in our efforts to protect everybody and even in our allocation of our resources\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In his part, Dr. James Wani Igga, Vice President for Economic Cluster, appreciated the President for the initiative and efforts toward election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we end this year, 2025, we shall all thank the president for a lot of encouragement, including that the country is entering into elections,\u201d Igga said.<\/p>\n<p>He urged citizens to prepare for elections slated for December 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll citizens should therefore wake up and begin preparing. This will be peaceful and credible and will play on the playground\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>He urged citizens to embrace peace, unity, and love rather than hate, saying hate and revenge killing are destroying the country.<\/p>\n<p>Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako, Archbishop Emeritus of Khartoum, called on the South Sudanese to forgive one another and focus on unity.<\/p>\n<p>He called on the leaders to forgive one another and work as a team in order to move the country forward.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yiep Joseph President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on the leaders to serve the county with sincerity and honesty.
