The police leadership in Yei River County has warned young people against engaging in criminal activities during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, urging them to uphold peace and lawful conduct.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media, the Police Inspector of Yei River County, Major General Ali Abudalah Tif, cautioned that many young people are being misled into joining criminal groups, a situation that often leads to unnecessary arrests and imprisonment.<\/p>\n

He advised youths to avoid bad company, stressing that association with criminals exposes them to arrest and prosecution under the law, even if they are not directly involved in criminal acts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome young people end up in prison for nothing because they move with the wrong people. Once arrested, the law takes its course,\u201d Major General Ali warned.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a concerned resident of Yei, Yeka Joel, called on the government to strengthen security measures to ensure the safety of citizens as they celebrate Christmas in 2025.<\/p>\n

He also urged authorities to regulate the sale and consumption of drugs and alcohol, noting that their widespread availability poses serious risks to young people.<\/p>\n

Yeka further encouraged youths to respect and listen to their elders, emphasizing that community by-laws are intended to guide behavior and protect society, not to target young people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen elders introduce by-laws, it is a sign that there are growing concerns affecting the youth and the community at large,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, announced the formation of a joint community security task force to protect civilians throughout the Christmas season. The initiative brings together organized forces to enhance public safety and prevent crime.<\/p>\n

The commissioner assured residents that security personnel have been instructed to work closely with civilians in a professional and non-violent manner, allowing people to celebrate the festive season peacefully.<\/p>\n
