South Sudan National Bureau of Standard (SSNBS) instructed sellers to cease sell of Nestle Nan PRO HA 0-12 toxin product.<\/p>\n

In the statement issued on Monday, Gloria Nyoka Joseph Lasu, the SSNBS Executive Director instructed all sellers and retailers to cease the distribution of Nestle Nan Toxin product.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll sellers and retailers to cease the distribution of this product and liaise with local authorities to take appropriate measures with immediate effect\u201d Nyoka instructed.<\/p>\n

Nyoka urged the public to seek advice from healthcare professionals, if need to fed the formula to an infant.<\/p>\n

She commented that retailers selling this infant formula after this notice will face penalties including fines and\/or Detention.<\/p>\n

The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards informed the general public of a specific batch of Nestle Nan possibly circulating in markets regionally and internationally.<\/p>\n

Nyoka noted that it is imperative to cease distribution of this Nestle Nan special PRO HA 0-12 infant formula, Batch number 51660742F3 with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

She explained that the formula contaminated with cereulide a toxin produced by certain strains of Bacillus cereus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is due to contamination of the formula with cereulide a toxin produced by certain strains of Bacillus cereus\u201d Nyoka explained.<\/p>\n

Nyoka highlighted that the toxin is highly heating stable rendering it unable to be deactivated or destroyed by cooking and boiling.<\/p>\n

She said that the threat brings potential risk to all infant consumers ranging from food borne illness and emesis\/vomiting up to six hours after feeding.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsequently, this product is not in compliance with the set regional and international standards\u201d Nyoka expressed.<\/p>\n

Nyoka emphasized that the Bureau of Standards demands instant cessation of its distribution in the Republic of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

She said that there has been a recall of the product from the Country of origin and there will be notices displayed in retail stores.<\/p>\n
