The United States ambassador, Michael J. Adler has urged the government of South Sudan, under the leadership of president Salva Kiir Mayrardit to maintain peace and deliver services to the people.<\/p>\n

This powerful remark followed a meeting between the two parties in Juba on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday met with the United States Ambassador, Michael J. Adler, to discuss the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement and the importance of providing unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to the needy people across the country\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u200eAmbassador Adler urged the government of South Sudan to maintain peace and deliver services to the population.<\/p>\n

On March 5, 2025, the Embassies of Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the Delegation of the European Union deplore the hostilities in Upper Nile State, which included significant loss of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also concerned by reports of detentions of senior military and civilian officials. We join our IGAD counterparts in calling for immediate cessation of hostilities and for all parties and their affiliates to exercise maximum restraint\u201d statement partly read.<\/p>\n

It underscored the Juba-based leaders must demonstrate their commitment to peaceful dialogue and should put the interest of the South Sudanese people first.<\/p>\n

On April 5, 2025, the State Department\u00a0announced\u00a0it was immediately revoking all visas issued to South Sudanese passport holders and that it was taking action to prevent further issuance of U.S. visas in order to prevent entry into the United States of South Sudanese passport holders.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Embassy of South Sudan has\u00a0confirmed\u00a0that all visa interviews were cancelled, and the Consular Section would not accept any diplomatic or official visa applications until further notice.<\/p>\n

The State Department cited the government of South Sudan\u2019s refusal to accept repatriation of its nationals from the United States as the reason for the revocation and restriction actions.<\/p>\n
