According to the woman\u2019s husband, Moses Andu, who works with a humanitarian organization in the area, the incident occurred when a wild dog attacked his father at their home.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Andu said his wife intervened while trying to rescue the older man, during which she was bitten on the hand by the dog.<\/p>\n<p>Both victims were rushed to Yei Civil Hospital, where they received initial treatment, including anti-rabies medication. However, the father-in-law succumbed to his injuries several weeks later.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Charity reportedly remained under medical care for nearly two months after the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Her condition worsened over time, with the bitten hand becoming paralyzed. She was later readmitted to hospital, where she died on Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>A medical official at Yei Civil Hospital, Towongo Ronald, confirmed that the woman\u2019s death was linked to complications arising from the dog bite.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that bites from suspected rabid dogs are extremely dangerous and can be fatal if treatment is delayed or incomplete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDog bites, especially from unvaccinated or wild animals, pose a serious risk to human life,\u201d Mr. Ronald said. \u201cImmediate and full medical attention is critical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have previously cautioned residents against keeping dogs and other animals without proper vaccination, citing public health concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The deaths have shocked residents of Yei River County, with community members describing the incident as unprecedented in the town.<\/p>\n<p>Local leaders are calling for increased public awareness, stricter control of stray animals, and improved access to timely medical care to prevent similar tragedies in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By James Innocent Two people have died following an attack by a suspected rabid dog in Ombasi Boma, Yei River County, local authorities and family members confirmed.
