\nThe government, through the Ministry of Energy and Dams, vowed to ensure a constant electricity supply to the residents.
\nSpeaking on Monday during the welcoming ceremony of the undersecretary, Agok Makur Kur, Minister of Energy and Dams, reiterated the commitment.
\nHe promised that the ministry would work hand in hand with partners to ensure constant electricity in Juba city.
\n“We need to provide domestic water, which will come through Dam for a constant electricity supply to the citizens,” he promised.
\nMakur expressed that the ministry of Energy and Dams as verse ministry will commit to ensure that the country benefit from energy resource as well.
\nThe minister reiterates that the ministry will provide long-term projects and services to the citizens, not temporary services.
\n“This needs the long-term plan from us to provide constant electricity supply to all the areas in South Sudan,” Makur said.
\nThe minister mentioned areas that are productive in agriculture, such as groundnut and Simsim, that are not put into use; hence, there is a need to focus on them.
\nHe added the availability of constant electricity will ease work in small factories for cooking oils, Simsim, among others.
\nMakur underscored that the ministry made legal frameworks to rules of law, which will attract interested investors to work in South Sudan.
\nHe urged the citizens to be patient, citing that the government is aware of the challenges facing the public.
\nThe minister highlighted that Salva Kiir Mayardit, the president of South Sudan, recently directed the ministry to ensure that the electricity rate is reduced.
\n“We want to assure the president that we have implemented the orders to reduce the rate of electricity,” he said.
\nMakur promised that the ministry will keep engaging with partners such as JEDCO and other partners to ensure constant and affordable electricity supply in the country.
\nHe acknowledged that it is the role of government to provide water and electricity to the citizens, citing that they are basic needs.
\nMakur assured the citizens that in a few months there will be new changes in the country, including new electricity supply and domestic water supply to the citizens.
\nHe further urged Madhang Achuil, the outgoing undersecretary in the Ministry of Energy and Dam, to keep engaging with the ministry.
\n“The ministry will be in need of your services in technology at any time you can come to the ministry,” Makur urged.
\n“National duties not related to the assignment\u2014you can even service the nation without payment,” he added.
\nMacham Macham Angui, the newly appointed undersecretary in the Ministry of Energy and Dam, expressed his appreciation to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for the chance.
\nHe said that it is his term, as he is equipped to contribute effectively to the development of South Sudan, especially the Ministry of Energy and Dams.
\nHe reiterated that without a constant electricity supply there will be no good development, citing that most development processes need electricity.
\nMacham said that it is the role of the Ministry of Energy and Dams of South Sudan to have enough electricity supply for the country.
