{"id":42869,"date":"2026-02-13T10:53:01","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T08:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=42869"},"modified":"2026-02-13T10:54:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T08:54:34","slug":"jonglei-refutes-false-reports-surrounding-governors-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/02\/13\/jonglei-refutes-false-reports-surrounding-governors-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Jonglei Refutes False Reports surrounding governor\u2019s health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Jacob Onuha Nelson<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Jonglei State Government has refuted and dismissed what it described as baseless and false information circulating on social media about the current health status of the Governor.<\/p>\n<p>The response followed the social media propaganda that the Governor died while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>Some blogs reported that governor Dr. Riek Gai Kok was critically sick while others report that the governor wasn\u2019t alive.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the online circulation, the Governor\u2019s Press Unit dismissed the malicious claims surrounding the health of the Governor of Jonglei State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis claim is baseless, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary alarm among the public,\u201d the statement read in part.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, Governor Riek is alive, receiving medical care, and is expected to resume his official duties in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hereby clarify that Governor Riek Gai is alive, in stable condition, and receiving appropriate medical care. His health continues to improve, and he is expected to resume his official duties in due course,\u201d it noted.<\/p>\n<p>The state government advised the public to disregard the misinformation and remain vigilant against propaganda disseminated by unreliable sources.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also urged media practitioners and the general public to fact-check and verify information before disseminating it for public consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge all media practitioners and the general public to exercise responsibility by verifying information before circulation, in order to maintain peace, trust, and stability within our community,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jacob Onuha Nelson The Jonglei State Government has refuted and dismissed what it described as baseless and false information circulating on social media about the current health status of the Governor.
