{"id":43128,"date":"2026-02-22T17:41:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T15:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=43128"},"modified":"2026-02-22T17:41:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T15:41:26","slug":"roadsministers-approves-usd-2-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/02\/22\/roadsministers-approves-usd-2-billion\/","title":{"rendered":"ROADS:Ministers Approves USD 2 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Lodu William Odiya<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Council of Ministers in its regular meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit has endorsed a 2 billion United states dollars road development project.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement that was released by the presidential press unit on, Officials described the initiative as a historic move that will redefine Infrastructure development in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eThe Cabinet awarded a sovereign guarantee to Shamrock Global Group to construct and improve the over 1,031 kilometres of strategic national roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Council of Ministers in its regular meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit has endorsed a 2 billion USD road development project\u201d the statement partly read.<\/p>\n<p>The massive project would see several major roads improved to asphalt standard, including Juba-Yei\u2013Kaya and Yei\u2013Faraksika\u2013Maridi roads.<\/p>\n<p>The project will also cover Juba\u2013Lobonok\u2013Moli Junction and also Wau\u2013Raja\u2013Boro Medina.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eInformation Minister Ateny Wek Ateny during a press conference in Juba on Friday said the entire project will cost the government a total of USD 2 billion, with every kilometre costing an average of 2.3 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan, proposed by Mining Minister Lasuba Ludoru Wongo, involves the use of gold as collateral, which the government believes will utilise the country\u2019s resource base to fast-track long overdue development agendas\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eMinister Ateny reiterated that the government is committed to peace and stability, adding that security is fundamental to both the development of infrastructure and the democratic transition of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eThe $2 billion USD roads project stands as one of the most significant infrastructure undertakings in recent years, a substantial investment in development undertaken with the nation\u2019s most valuable resource.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya The Council of Ministers in its regular meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit has endorsed a 2 billion United states dollars road development project.
