President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday received a comprehensive report on the progress of South Sudan\u2019s oil industry, stressing progress in the operations of Nilepet.<\/span><\/p>\n In a press statement from the presidential press unit, Emmanuel Athiei Ayual outlined significant steps made by Nilepet in strengthening its capacity and increasing national participation in the petroleum sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Emmanuel also said officials from Sudanese oil companies, including Petco & Bapco, will be coming to Juba before the end of the month to have an intensive discussion on the transportation arrangements.<\/span><\/p>\n He stated that the Qatar-based company has expressed interest in acquiring a 30 per cent stake previously held by Petronas that is now under Nilepet control.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The briefing focused on government initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in the transportation of crude oil, particularly through regional pipelines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Emmanuel emphasized ongoing cooperation with neighbouring countries to ensure the smooth and secure transit of oil exports to global markets.<\/span><\/p>\n President Kiir welcomed the progress made and reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to supporting the oil sector as a backbone of the national economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He stressed the need for transparency, efficiency, and sustained investment to maximize\u00a0<\/span>the benefits of oil resources for the people of South Sudan.<\/span><\/p>\n The report comes at a time when the government is seeking to stabilize the economy and boost public revenues through improved performance in the oil industry, which remains the country\u2019s primary source of income.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Sabri Dibaco President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday received a comprehensive report on the progress of South Sudan\u2019s oil industry, stressing progress in the operations of Nilepet.
