{"id":43825,"date":"2026-04-09T15:56:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T13:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=43825"},"modified":"2026-04-09T16:08:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T14:08:34","slug":"former-speaker-reflects-on-tenure-pledges-continued-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/09\/former-speaker-reflects-on-tenure-pledges-continued-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Former speaker kumba reflects on tenure, pledges continued service."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><i>By Sabri Dibaco<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The former Speaker, Jema Nunnu Kumba, has expressed gratitude to the President for the trust and confidence placed in her to serve as the Speaker in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The former speaker highlighted both achievements and challenges encountered throughout her leadership.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a letter, the former speaker thanked the head of state for the opportunity to serve as the first female speaker in the nation, the governor, and all the ministerial offices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She noted that her tenure was marked by significant milestones aimed at strengthening legislative functions and promoting national development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe lessons I learnt during my tenure as the first female governor in South Sudan and the subsequent ministerial position I held thereafter were foundational in informing my work at the TNLA and my representation of the country in the region and internationally,&#8221; Kumba said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She pointed to key accomplishments, including efforts to enhance cooperation within the assembly, improve lawmaking processes, and support government programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, she also acknowledged the difficulties faced, citing political and institutional challenges that required resilience and collective effort to navigate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the obstacles, the former Speaker emphasized that her commitment to serving the nation remains unwavering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI remain fully committed to playing my part in advancing the legislative agenda, strengthening democratic governance, and contributing to the realization of the aspiration of our people,&#8221;
