At least three people, including one suspected raider, are killed and four others injured following a cattle raid in Agook Nyang village of Aweng Payam, Twic County in Warrap State.<\/span><\/p>\n According to local authorities, the incident occurs on Tuesday at around 4:00 PM when cattle herders leave young boys in charge of grazing livestock near the road linking Agook-Nyang and Majook-Noon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The attackers take advantage of the situation, chase away the boys, and drive off the cattle.<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking to Media Inspector Col. Riing Mayot Dhel said the herders later learn of the raid and mobilize able-bodied youth to pursue the attackers. A confrontation follows, resulting in the deaths of three people, including one of the raiders, and leaving four others critically injured.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe raiders attacked the herders while grazing near the road and managed to take the cattle after scaring off the boys,\u201d he explained. \u201cWhen the community members followed them, fighting broke out, leading to the casualties.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The injured are rushed to Mother Teresa Hospital in Turalei Payam, where they are currently receiving treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n Local youth, together with cattle keepers, managed to recover the stolen animals after pursuing the raiders. Authorities do not specify the number of cattle retrieved.<\/span><\/p>\n Officials say cattle raiding continues to pose a serious security challenge in parts of Warrap State, with recurring incidents often linked to tensions with neighboring areas such as Unity State.
