The Catholic Bishop of Tombura\ufffeYambio Diocese, Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, has called on teachers across South Sudan to refrain from assisting students in examination malpractice.<\/span><\/p>\n He cited that such behavior undermines the future of the nation. Speaking during the opening of the new ECSS St. Paul Secondary School in Yambio, Bishop Hiiboro emphasized the importance of integrity in education.<\/span><\/p>\n He urged both teachers and students to uphold honesty at all times.<\/span><\/p>\n The bishop strongly condemned cheating in all its forms, describing it as a betrayal of personal dignity and national values. Highlighting the Church\u2019s mission in education, he stated:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe are called to deliver knowledge for a better future, where our children grow in wisdom, faith, and service to society.\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n The bishop stressed that examinations are meant to assess knowledge and build character\u2014not to provide shortcuts to success. He warned that when teachers aid malpractice, they erode trust in the education system and produce graduates who lack the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Church does not support any malpractice or forgery when it comes to examinations. Study for life, not for exams, to avoid such temptations,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n Bishop Hiiboro further urged teachers to act as role models by guiding students with discipline and strong moral values, rather than facilitating dishonest practices.<\/span><\/p>\n He cautioned that helping students cheat damages the credibility of schools and weakens national development efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Education, Elias Box, reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to education, describing it as a fundamental pillar for national development.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOpening a new school is a sign of hope and progress.
