The presidential envoy for special programs has directed the immediate drilling of boreholes in Awerial County.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The call is aimed at addressing the growing water shortage and providing clean, reliable water to local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n The directive comes after repeated appeals from residents who have been facing acute water scarcity, forcing many to rely on unsafe water sources.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Community leaders had earlier raised concerns about the worsening situation, highlighting increased health risks and the long distances\u2014especially for women and children who traveled in search of water.<\/span><\/p>\n During a brief interaction with residents in Awerial county during her visit to Rumbek, a visit to Lakes State, the envoy, Adut Kiir, acknowledged the severity of the crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n She reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to improving basic services across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Adut instructed relevant authorities and partners to expedite the drilling of boreholes in the most affected areas.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis intervention is aimed at alleviating the suffering of our people and ensuring access to safe drinking water,\u201d she said, emphasizing that clean water is essential for public\u00a0 health and development.<\/span><\/p>\n Local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that it will bring lasting relief.
