{"id":43913,"date":"2026-04-14T17:03:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T15:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=43913"},"modified":"2026-04-15T15:17:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T13:17:32","slug":"national-bureau-of-statistics-receives-it-equipment-to-enhance-agricultural-statistics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/14\/national-bureau-of-statistics-receives-it-equipment-to-enhance-agricultural-statistics\/","title":{"rendered":"National Bureau of Statistics receives IT equipment to enhance agricultural statistics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By Lodu William Odiya<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a continued effort to strengthen South Sudan\u2019s national statistical system, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) officially handed over a consignment of IT equipment to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a statement that was released by the NBS yesterday, the donation which includes 10 high-performance laptops and a professional grade printer, is aimed at streamlining the coordination, production, and analysis of vital agricultural statistics\/data across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The handover is part of a broader strategic partnership designed to modernize how South Sudan handles food security and agricultural data.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By equipping the NBS with modern hardware and specialized software, the FAO aims to Provide NBS staff with the necessary tools to manage large-scale data sets efficiently, utilize pre-installed software to ensure agricultural information is precise,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">timely, and actionable, and Foster long-term institutional growth by ensuring the Bureau has the infrastructure to lead national statistical projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the statement, Felix Dzvurumi, the FAO Team Leader, during the ceremony emphasized that the donation is a core component of the organization\u2019s mandate to support government institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This is part of our mandate to build institutional capacity,&#8221; said Mr. Felix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This donation will directly facilitate the gathering and processing of agriculture information and statistics through the specialized software installed on these machines,&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Director General of the NBS, Augustino Ting Mayai, expressed gratitude for the enduring partnership between the two entities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He commended the FAO for their &#8220;continued and sustained support,&#8221;
