Authorities in Koch County have arrested a businessman identified as War Diu in Rubkona County, Unity State. An official said the arrest occurred on Tuesday morning at approximately 6:20 a.m.<\/p>\n

Speaking to No.1 Citizens Daily Newspaper, Gatkuoth Biel confirmed the arrest of his relative, alleging that it was carried out under the orders of the recently reappointed Koch County Commissioner Gordon Koang Biel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe very first action taken by the newly appointed Commissioner, even before officially opening his office, has been to target members of the Jagei community,\u201d Biel said.<\/p>\n

He added that War Diu was arrested at Rubkona market without clear justification and is currently being transferred from Rubkona to Koch County.<\/p>\n

According to Biel, the arrest may be linked to a previous dispute between War Diu and the commissioner.<\/p>\n

He explained that the disagreement followed a past incident in which a member of their community was involved in a killing, whereby compensation in the form of cattle was reportedly paid to the victim\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

However, during a mobile court session in Bentiu, 30 additional cows were allegedly taken without proper justification.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mobile court later ruled that the 30 cows should be returned to War Diu,\u201d Biel said.<\/p>\n

The arrest has raised serious concern among the family and the wider Jagei community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly condemn this arrest and demand immediate clarification on the reasons behind it. We also call for his safe and unconditional release,\u201d Biel stated.<\/p>\n

He further warned that the commissioner would be held accountable if any harm came to the detainee.<\/p>\n

Biel also called on relevant authorities to intervene and ensure justice, transparency, and the protection of citizens\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hon. Nyakenya Johannes Keah Ruai said she is not yet aware of the full details surrounding the incident but has pledged to investigate.<\/p>\n
