President Salva Kiir Mayardit has approved the establishment of a new university in Yei following a briefing from Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, Governor Adil briefed President Salva Kiir Mayardit and provided an update on the general situation in Central Equatoria State.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor\u2019s office revealed that the head of state has approved the establishment of a university in Yei River County.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, has approved the establishment of Yei University at the former UNMISS base in Yei town to widen access to higher education,” the statement partly read.<\/span><\/p>\n

Governor Adil reported that the security situation across the state remains largely calm, with steady progress being made in maintaining law and order.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He noted that despite a recent incident in Jebel Iraq (Khor Khaltan), there are still people currently in the Khor Khaltan area.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that the state government, in coordination with the CDF, has deployed additional forces and is establishing a police station and administrative office in the area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Discussions are also ongoing with the Ministry of Mining to enforce proper licensing in gold mining zones.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor further revealed that authorities have intensified a crackdown on criminal activities and gang operations, particularly in urban areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This effort includes plans to rehabilitate offenders, including minors, and reintegrate them into society.<\/span><\/p>\n

The highlight of the meeting was President Kiir\u2019s approval of a new university in Yei. The initiative is expected to expand access to higher education and support development in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

Governor Adil welcomed the decision, stating that the institution will create more opportunities for young people and contribute to long-term stability and growth in Central Equatoria.<\/span><\/p>\n
