{"id":44120,"date":"2026-04-23T16:00:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T14:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=44120"},"modified":"2026-04-23T16:00:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T14:00:07","slug":"radio-manager-released-after-brief-detention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/23\/radio-manager-released-after-brief-detention\/","title":{"rendered":"Radio manager released after brief detention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Yien Gattuor Mead<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The manager of Leer 88.0 FM, James Gattiek Lieth Majiek, has been released after spending approximately one hour in detention.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, Gattiek said he was arrested by security personnel after taking photographs of trucks loaded with sand that were being transported to Bentiu.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, documenting the activity led to his brief detention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incident occurred when I took pictures of trucks carrying sand to Bentiu,\u201d Gattiek explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was arrested shortly afterwards,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>He added that such incidents involving journalists have happened multiple times, with security personnel detaining reporters for unclear reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Gattiek confirmed that he was arrested at around 5:20 p.m. and released at approximately 6:20 p.m. the same day.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Leer County, Stephen Taker Riak Dong, denied that an arrest took place.<\/p>\n<p>He described the incident as a discussion between Gattiek and county authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was not arrested; it was just a discussion,\u201d the commissioner said, adding that he was not fully aware of the details as he was in Unity State at the time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yien Gattuor Mead The manager of Leer 88.0 FM, James Gattiek Lieth Majiek, has been released after spending approximately one hour in detention.
