The government of South Sudan has procured five advanced machine systems for the Directorate of Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport, and Immigration (CRNPI) to enhance the issuance of national documents.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference in Juba on Thursday, Maj. Gen. Elia Kosta Faustino, the director general of the CRNPI, confirmed that the new equipment has been delivered and is ready for setup.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a pleasure to announce to the people of South Sudan that we have received a new generation of systems, consisting of five machines provided by the Ministry of Interior,\u201d Gen. Kosta said.<\/p>\n

Of the five machines, two are dedicated to passport production, while three are designated for National ID and nationality certificates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are more advanced than the ones we have been using. We are going to install them immediately to improve our service delivery. This is a significant achievement for us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Gen. Kosta noted that the procurement was driven by the need to stay updated with global technological trends. While he confirmed the acquisition, he noted that the specific cost of the equipment remains confidential due to the terms of the government\u2019s agreement with the supplying company.<\/p>\n

In addition to the new hardware, the Directorate has received 100,000 nationality cards. Gen. Kosta assured the public that additional passport booklets are expected soon to prevent the chronic delays that have previously frustrated applicants.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to inform our people that we have received 100,000 nationality cards, and we are expecting passport booklets shortly to fill the gaps that caused processing delays,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The director general highlighted that efficiency is already improving, noting that the crowds at the directorate have diminished as processing times for those with complete documentation have dropped to just one or two days.<\/p>\n

Addressing the challenges faced by South Sudanese in the states and the diaspora, Gen. Kosta revealed that the directorate has received 100 mobile enrollment kits.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout a week ago, we received 100 mobile kits. Our plan is to distribute these across all states so that people can process their documents locally. The data will then be sent to Juba for final production,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Gen. Kosta also touched on the cost of documents, noting that the current fee of 15,000 SSP for a Nationality Certificate may increase due to the country\u2019s economic situation and the upcoming national budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegarding the fee for nationality, it is currently 15,000 SSP, but this may change with the new financial budget. We are waiting for those details,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, the fees for passports remain categorised as follows: regular passport,<\/strong> USD 100; business passport, USD 400; and diplomatic passport, USD 200.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
