The Paramount Chief of Yei River County and the Chairperson of the County Peace Committee have called for stronger unity, neutrality, and cooperation among communities.<\/p>\n

The call came at a time when the county government continued with efforts to intensify and strengthen peacebuilding structures across the areas.<\/p>\n

The appeal was made during a courtesy visit by the County Peace Committee to the Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, at the county headquarters in Yei.<\/p>\n

Discussions during the meeting focused on restructuring the peace committee and improving its operations to effectively address local conflicts and promote reconciliation among communities.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the meeting, Joseph Brown Lomose, Chairperson of the County Peace Committee, said the institution was seeking restructuring and appointment of new members following the departure of some members who joined political parties, while others stepped down due to personal commitments.<\/p>\n

Lomose emphasised that the peace committee remains a neutral and non-political body operating under the framework of the 2018 Revitalised Peace Agreement and is committed to serving all communities equally.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe restructuring of the peace committee will strengthen coordination and improve our ability to carry out peacebuilding activities effectively across Yei River County,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The committee also appealed for administrative support, including office space, a vehicle logbook, an official office stamp, and a private number plate for the committee vehicle to facilitate safer movement during peace missions in areas affected by insecurity.<\/p>\n

The Paramount Chief of Yei River County welcomed the continued engagement between county authorities and peace actors, describing peace and unity as essential pillars for development and social stability within the county. He urged community members to support peace initiatives and avoid actions that could undermine reconciliation and peaceful coexistence among residents.<\/p>\n

In response, Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo reaffirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to supporting peacebuilding initiatives and strengthening community cohesion across the county.<\/p>\n

Malimbo praised the peace committee for its role in promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence despite the ongoing challenges facing communities in parts of the county.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeace remains the foundation for development, stability, and unity in Yei River County. The county leadership appreciates the role played by the peace committee in maintaining harmony within our communities,\u201d Commissioner Malimbo said.<\/p>\n

The commissioner assured the peace committee of the county government\u2019s support, including the allocation of office space to improve coordination of activities and financial assistance to facilitate some of the committee\u2019s operational needs.<\/p>\n

He further stressed that collaboration between local authorities, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and peace actors remains critical in sustaining long-term peace and stability in Yei River County.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded with renewed commitments from both the county leadership and the peace committee to continue working together in promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and sustainable peace across the county.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
