The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, has donated more than 168 chairs to local chiefs across the county\u2019s five payams in a move aimed at strengthening the operations of traditional authorities and supporting local administration.<\/p>\n

The beneficiaries include chiefs from Lasu, Mugwo, Tore, Yei Town, and Otogo payams.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Paramount Chief of Yei River County, Joseph Brown, commended the commissioner for what he described as timely and significant support to traditional leaders across the county.<\/p>\n

He urged the chiefs to make proper use of the chairs and ensure that the items are utilised for official duties in their respective offices.<\/p>\n

Simon Akasa, the Executive Chief of Mugwo Payam, also praised the county leadership for the donation, noting that it was the first major support extended to local chiefs within a short period since Commissioner Malimbo assumed office.<\/p>\n

He described the gesture as a sign of commitment to peace, development, and improved local governance.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Justine Lowuya Nehemiah welcomed the support, saying many chiefs have been operating without adequate office furniture.<\/p>\n

He, however, highlighted transportation and mobility challenges within communities as one of the major issues still affecting service delivery at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Commissioner Malimbo had pledged to provide chairs to local chiefs during a one-day consultative meeting held at the county secretariat to discuss key challenges facing the five payams.<\/p>\n

During the event, the commissioner called on chiefs to strengthen cooperation among themselves and continue reporting challenges affecting their communities to the county authorities.<\/p>\n

The Head Chief of Tore Payam said the chairs would improve office operations and serve as motivation for local leaders, although transportation challenges remain a major concern in the area.<\/p>\n

He added that the commissioner\u2019s support would contribute to the sustainability and effectiveness of chiefs\u2019 offices across the county.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
