The Ministry of Finance and Planning, in partnership with development partners through the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC), has convened a multi-stakeholder action dialogue aimed at strengthening development cooperation and improving service delivery across South Sudan.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the opening session, the Undersecretary for Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Benjamin Ayali Koyongwa, commended development partners for their continued support and commitment to South Sudan\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe monitoring exercise continues to serve as an important mechanism for strengthening mutual accountability and measuring progress. We must work together to deepen accountability, promote inclusive development, and ensure that the benefits of development reach all citizens,\u201d the statement reads<\/p>\n

He urged stakeholders to engage openly and constructively during the dialogue to address existing bottlenecks and unlock opportunities for sustainable development initiatives.<\/p>\n

The Director General for Aid Coordination at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Suzy Albert, highlighted both the achievements and challenges identified through the monitoring process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe monitoring exercise has revealed significant progress, including stronger institutional frameworks and improved alignment of aid with national priorities. However, challenges remain in the areas of transparency, accountability, and inclusive participation, which require collective action from all stakeholders,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

She noted that the dialogue marks the culmination of a structured consultative process involving focal points representing government institutions, development partners, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Representing development partners, David Santos described the initiative as a critical step toward achieving more effective development outcomes in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis dialogue is important because it focuses on improving service delivery for the people of South Sudan. The government should continue taking greater ownership of development programs, prioritise spending in key sectors, and ensure that these priorities are reflected in budget allocations and implementation,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

Santos further called for the development of comprehensive plans that clearly outline all available resources and how they will be utilised to benefit South Sudanese citizens.<\/p>\n

The Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation was established in 2011 in Busan, South Korea, by 163 countries as a platform to promote development effectiveness and support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n

Participants are expected to formulate joint actions and recommendations aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, coordination, and the overall impact of development cooperation in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

The dialogue reflects ongoing efforts by the government and its partners to ensure that development assistance translates into tangible improvements in public services and the well-being of citizens across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
