According to a joint assessment released in April 2026 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and UNICEF, approximately 7.8 million people, representing 56 per cent of South Sudan’s population, are projected to experience acute food insecurity between April and July 2026.

The report attributes the crisis to conflict, displacement, economic challenges, climate-related shocks, and reduced agricultural production.

‎Agricultural experts say strengthening local food production remains critical to reducing dependence on food imports, stabilising market prices, and improving household resilience against hunger across South Sudan.

By James Innocent ‎Farmers in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State, are appealing to the government and development partners for increased agricultural support to boost food production and help address rising food insecurity affecting many households across South Sudan. ‎Speaking at Morokindita Cooperative Society in Yei River County, Joseph Juma[Read More…]

[158,80,79,149

post-45199","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-agriculture","category-national","category-news","category-yei
["GET
