{"id":45249,"date":"2026-06-10T14:51:01","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T12:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=45249"},"modified":"2026-06-10T14:51:01","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T12:51:01","slug":"nss-warns-public-against-unauthorized-use-of-military-uniforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/10\/nss-warns-public-against-unauthorized-use-of-military-uniforms\/","title":{"rendered":"NSS warns public against unauthorized use of military uniforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Louis Loku<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The National Security Service (NSS) has issued a stern warning to the public against the unauthorised manufacture, sale, possession, and use of military uniforms, camouflage clothing, and security insignia.<\/p>\n<p>In a public notice, NSS spokesperson David John Kumuri said authorities have observed a growing number of individuals, tailors, designers, and business establishments manufacturing and trading NSS uniforms, camouflage clothing, and other security-related items without official authorisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Administration of the National Security Service \u2013 Internal Security Bureau wishes to issue a strict and final warning to the general public, business companies and owners, tailors, designers, and others regarding unauthorised handling of official National Security Service attire,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the NSS, the unauthorised circulation of security uniforms and insignia undermines the institution&#8217;s integrity and creates opportunities for criminal activities, including the impersonation of security personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis illegal practice poses a severe threat to public safety, national security, and the integrity of the NSS,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>The service announced a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, purchase, possession, and wearing of NSS uniforms, tactical gear, camouflage patterns, and other related security items unless written authorisation has been obtained from the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The warning also extends to civilians using security attire for personal purposes, including fashion, entertainment, film production, or private security work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCivilians and unauthorised persons possessing or wearing any part of the NSS uniform, tactical gear, or camouflage, whether for daily wear, fashion, film production, or security work, are strictly illegal,\u201d the notice stated.<\/p>\n<p>The NSS warned that anyone found violating the directive will be prosecuted under Section 91(c) of the National Security Service Act 2024 (as amended) and Section 77 of the South Sudan Penal Code Act 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said offenders will face immediate arrest and legal action, which may include fines and imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe law will take its full course, and offenders will be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law,\u201d the statement warned.<\/p>\n<p>The security agency also urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting individuals or businesses involved in the illegal production, sale, or distribution of security uniforms and insignia.<\/p>\n<p>According to the NSS, preventing unauthorised access to such items is critical to safeguarding public safety and preventing criminals from impersonating security officers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Louis Loku The National Security Service (NSS) has issued a stern warning to the public against the unauthorised manufacture, sale, possession, and use of military uniforms, camouflage clothing, and security insignia.
