The Juba Special Economic Zone (JSEZ) has intensified efforts to position South Sudan as a leading investment destination in the region.<\/p>\n

This followed high-level talks with international investors aimed at accelerating the zone\u2019s development and operational readiness.<\/p>\n

The leadership of the JSEZ, under Commissioner General Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa, on Tuesday received a delegation from Global Trading Commodities (GTC) of the United States in Juba for discussions focused on advancing strategic investment cooperation.<\/p>\n

The delegation, led by Mr. Martin Chitsama, was introduced by JSEZ consultant Thomas Muto Lo\u2019Buda, who has been actively engaging international partners to support the establishment and growth of the economic zone.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Commissioner General Kanyikwa welcomed the investors and reaffirmed the JSEZ\u2019s commitment to creating a competitive and investor-friendly environment that supports industrial growth, trade facilitation, and long-term economic transformation.<\/p>\n

He commended ongoing efforts to attract strategic partners and emphasised that the Economic Zone is a key pillar in South Sudan\u2019s broader agenda for diversification, job creation, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of GTC LLC, Mr. Chitsama expressed the company\u2019s interest in contributing to South Sudan\u2019s economic development through investment in trade, infrastructure support, and private-sector collaboration. He praised the openness of the JSEZ leadership and reaffirmed the company\u2019s readiness to explore long-term partnership opportunities.<\/p>\n

Discussions centered on accelerating the legal and institutional framework for the zone, including the enactment of the Juba Special Economic Zone Act, completion of feasibility and viability studies, and development of a comprehensive master plan to guide phased implementation.<\/p>\n

Both sides also explored mechanisms for structured investment cooperation, with a shared commitment to fast-tracking the operationalisation of the zone within an ambitious 90-day framework.<\/p>\n

The JSEZ leadership emphasised that the project is designed to attract foreign direct investment, stimulate industrialisation, expand export capacity, and create employment opportunities for South Sudanese youth.<\/p>\n

Officials noted that the establishment of the economic zone represents a transformative step toward integrating South Sudan into regional and global trade networks while enhancing private sector participation in national development.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by senior JSEZ officials and representatives of GTC LLC.<\/p>\n
