What we saw in the video is worrying, and the government should increase security patrols to protect people,\u201d Yusuf said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Kampala hosts many South Sudanese students pursuing education in different institutions and called on authorities to ensure their safety and that of other residents.<\/p>\n<p>Another South Sudanese student, Yangi Annet, also expressed concern about insecurity in the city, saying she no longer feels safe walking on some streets in Kampala.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs students, we move on foot most of the time, especially when going to school or returning home. After watching the video, many of us are living in fear because such gangs can attack anyone,\u201d Annet told No. 1 Citizen Newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>She appealed to security agencies to deploy more officers in busy areas and traffic points where criminals are believed to target pedestrians and motorists.<\/p>\n<p>The incident has generated public debate on social media, with many Ugandans calling for tougher action against criminal gangs operating in the city.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Uganda Police issued a statement confirming that investigations into the matter were ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Police said efforts were underway to identify and arrest those involved in the robbery incidents captured in the viral video.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could help investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The latest incident has renewed concerns over urban crime in Kampala, with students and residents now demanding stronger measures to improve safety in the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jurugo Emmanuel Ogasto South Sudanese students studying in daily schools across Kampala City have called on the Ugandan government to strengthen security following a viral video showing suspected gangs robbing pedestrians at the Nsambya traffic lights in Kampala City.
