\u200eThe Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon. Samuel Henry Malimbo, accompanied by County Executive Director John Hillary Konga, on Tuesday visited Yei Civil Hospital to assess healthcare services and discuss challenges affecting the sector.<\/p>\n

\u200eDuring the visit, health workers informed county leaders that many medical personnel have gone for nearly a year without salaries but continue to provide services to the population.<\/p>\n

\u200eStaff also raised concerns over delayed promotions, appointments, and limited resources for healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n

\u200eOfficials from the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) reported difficulties in conducting outreach vaccination activities due to inadequate transport, fuel shortages, and insecurity in some parts of the county. Surveillance officers similarly cited challenges related to motorcycle maintenance and operational funding.<\/p>\n

\u200eThe hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control Unit said it relies heavily on support from humanitarian partners for essential supplies and preparedness activities, while reproductive health officials highlighted the absence of functioning health facilities in Tore Payam, where insecurity has disrupted service delivery.<\/p>\n

\u200eCounty Executive Director John Hillary Konga acknowledged the challenges facing health workers and encouraged them to remain committed to serving the public despite difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n

He noted that many government departments continue to depend on partner support while awaiting improvements in public financing.<\/p>\n

\u200eCommissioner Malimbo praised health workers for their dedication and urged the newly appointed County Health Director, Simon Musoga, to work closely with staff and stakeholders to strengthen healthcare services across the county.<\/p>\n

\u200eThe commissioner also assured medical personnel that local authorities are working to improve security in affected areas, including Tore Payam, to enable the restoration and expansion of health services.<\/p>\n

\u200eHe called for greater cooperation among health workers and emphasised the importance of recruiting and training personnel from local communities to serve in their respective payams.<\/p>\n

\u200eMeanwhile, health officials confirmed that Yei River County has received a consignment of medicines from the National Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n
