The South Sudan Wrestling Federation (SSWF) has appointed former Radio Jonglei journalist Mabang Kur Lual as Program Coordinator, marking a new step in his transition from sports journalism to sports administration.<\/p>\n

His appointment was confirmed in an official order issued by SSWF President Samuel Wusong Gabriel on June 12, 2026.<\/p>\n

Mabang, who is widely known for his work in sports journalism, particularly football and traditional wrestling coverage, has been praised for his long-standing contribution to promoting wrestling in South Sudan through the media.<\/p>\n

During his time at Radio Jonglei, he played a key role in popularising wrestling by providing live commentary and field coverage of competitions held in Jonglei State and other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

His reporting helped bring the sport closer to radio audiences and increased public interest, especially among young people.<\/p>\n

Speaking after his appointment, Mabang expressed appreciation to the federation leadership and described his new role as a continuation of his commitment to the development of wrestling in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am grateful for the trust given to me by the South Sudan Wrestling Federation. Wrestling has been part of my professional journey as a journalist, and I have witnessed its importance in bringing communities together and developing young talent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that his experience in sports reporting gave him a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the wrestling sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a journalist, I was always close to the sport. I covered it from the ground, interacted with athletes, coaches, and communities, and understood what is needed to grow it further,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mabang said his focus in the new position will be to strengthen coordination of wrestling activities, support grassroots development, and improve communication between state associations and the national federation.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that wrestling remains an important cultural and sporting platform in South Sudan, with strong potential to unite communities and empower youth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe wrestling is not just a sport but a cultural identity and a tool for peace and youth engagement. It deserves more investment and structured development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Colleagues in the media fraternity have described Mabang as a dedicated and passionate journalist who consistently demonstrated professionalism and commitment in his sports coverage.<\/p>\n

His live commentary of wrestling events in Jonglei State was particularly noted for helping expand the sport\u2019s audience and increasing its visibility across the country.<\/p>\n

The South Sudan Wrestling Federation is expected to benefit from his experience in sports media and his familiarity with local wrestling structures as it works to strengthen and promote the sport nationwide.<\/p>\n
