The state-of-the-art forensic equipment was officially handed over during a ceremony in Juba attended by senior government officials, top police commanders, and representatives of the Chinese Embassy.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The donation is part of continued security cooperation between South Sudan and China aimed at strengthening law enforcement institutions and equipping investigators with modern forensic tools.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to police authorities, the newly acquired technology will enhance investigations into serious crimes, including murder, robbery, fraud, cybercrime, document forgery, and other offences that require DNA testing and digital forensic analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant Inspector General of Police for Criminal Investigation and Crime Prevention, Lt. Gen. John Maluth, described the equipment as a major milestone in improving the country’s criminal justice system.<\/span><\/p>\n

“As our country continues to face crimes such as theft, robbery, murder, fraud, and document forgery, these modern tools will enable investigators to conduct professional, evidence-based investigations and deliver justice more effectively,” Maluth said.<\/span><\/p>\n

He noted that the addition of DNA testing technology and an electronic fingerprint identification system will strengthen forensic capabilities and help investigators establish reliable evidence during criminal investigations.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The DNA testing equipment and electronic fingerprint system complete an important part of our forensic process and significantly improve our ability to prevent and investigate crime,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police officials also said the establishment of the forensic laboratory will reduce South Sudan’s dependence on foreign laboratories for scientific analysis, allowing investigations to be conducted more efficiently within the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Ma Qiang said the project demonstrates China’s commitment to supporting South Sudan’s efforts to build a modern and effective law enforcement system.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Through this facility, we hope to strengthen South Sudan’s capacity to fight crime, protect the rights of its citizens and maintain public order by using advanced forensic science,” Ambassador Ma said.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that the initiative extends beyond the donation of equipment and includes specialised training for South Sudanese forensic experts and police officers to ensure they can effectively operate and maintain the new laboratory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several officers have already completed technical training and are expected to spearhead the implementation of the country’s enhanced forensic services.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both South Sudanese and Chinese officials reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in forensic science, laboratory development, and professional training as part of broader efforts to strengthen the National Police Service and improve the administration of justice.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
