The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio, Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, has officially launched an e-learning program at St. John Paul Institute of Philosophy in Yabongo.<\/p>\n

This marked a significant step toward strengthening academic excellence and advancing digital education within Catholic higher learning institutions in Western Equatoria State.<\/p>\n

The initiative is expected to transform teaching and learning by providing students and lecturers with improved access to educational resources, digital platforms, research materials, and wider academic engagement beyond the traditional classroom.<\/p>\n

According to a press statement published on the official page of the Diocese, Bishop Hiiboro emphasised the importance of integrating technology into education while preserving values-based formation.<\/p>\n

“Education today must respond to the realities of our changing world. Technology is not a replacement for human values but a tool that enhances learning, knowledge, and integral human formation,” the statement reads in part.<\/p>\n

The bishop said the Church remains committed to preparing future leaders who are intellectually grounded, spiritually mature, and capable of addressing contemporary challenges.<\/p>\n

“We must equip our young people and future Church leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve effectively in both the Church and society,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n

He further encouraged students and educators to embrace innovation as an opportunity to deepen research, expand knowledge sharing, and build connections with academic communities around the world.<\/p>\n

“This e-learning program opens doors to global academic opportunities and strengthens our mission of delivering quality education for all,” the statement added.<\/p>\n

The launch ceremony brought together priests, religious men and women, lecturers, seminarians, and guests, all of whom welcomed the initiative as a major milestone in the continued development of Catholic education in the Diocese of Tambura-Yambio.<\/p>\n

The Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio has long invested in education as part of its pastoral mission to promote human dignity, leadership development, and community transformation across Western Equatoria State and South Sudan. Catholic institutions continue to play a vital role in providing education and professional formation, particularly in areas where educational resources and infrastructure remain limited.<\/p>\n

Across Africa and the world, institutions of higher learning are increasingly adopting digital learning platforms to expand access to education, strengthen research capacity, and connect students with international academic networks.<\/p>\n
