Moses, said companies that fail to comply with the regulations will face severe penalties.<\/p>\n<p>According to the regulation, any company operating mining, quarrying, or mineral exploration activities without a valid license or permit will be fined SSP 30 million if it is fully locally owned.<\/p>\n<p>Companies with 31 percent local ownership will face a fine of US$15,000 for the same offense.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Moses urged all mining companies operating in Central Equatoria State to register with the relevant authorities to avoid penalties and ensure compliance with the new regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Dabe Francis Elisama, the Commissioner General of the State Mining Authority, called on the public to respect the new mining regulations.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged mining companies to follow all legal procedures and obtain the necessary licenses before commencing any mining operations.<\/p>\n<p>The new regulations are intended to strengthen oversight of the mining sector, promote compliance with the law, and ensure that mining activities are conducted in an orderly and responsible manner across Central Equatoria State.<\/p>\n<p>Mining activities in Central Equatoria State have expanded in recent years, particularly in the extraction of construction materials such as stone, sand, and murram, alongside mineral exploration in some parts of the state.<\/p>\n<p>State authorities have repeatedly raised concerns over companies operating without proper licenses, non-compliance with environmental and safety standards, and the loss of government revenue due to illegal mining activities.<\/p>\n<p>The new mining regulations are part of the state government&#8217;s broader efforts to formalise the sector, improve revenue collection, protect the environment, and ensure that mining operations are carried out in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n<p>State officials say all companies engaged in mining, quarrying, or mineral exploration are expected to obtain the required licenses and comply with the regulations before commencing operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yiep Joseph The Central Equatoria State (CES) Government has introduced fines of up to 30 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) for companies that violate the state&#8217;s mining regulations.
